ABSTRACT
The article discusses the contents of the book "Internships in Recreation and Leisure Services: A Practical Guide for Students," by Edward E. Seagle, Jr., Ralph W. Smith and Lola M. Dalton. The book acts as a resource that can help reduce these anxieties. In seven chapters, the authors lead the reader through a step-by-step recipe for success. Consistently organized and written, the authors present a chronological procedure for the student to follow. These procedures are based on a solid foundation of theory and practice. Each chapter offers action steps followed by useful exercises that encourage the student to implement the authors' ideas, thus, linking theory to practice. The major strength of the manual lies in its easy tone and writing style. The authors did a superb job of tailoring their ideas for the student audience. The material is both insightful and motivational. There are many concrete examples with very clear objectives. The manual is highly recommended for use in an internship preparation course; internship coordinators will find this source extremely valuable, as will the student who independently conducts an internship search.
