ABSTRACT
This article presents an essay reviewing the book "Why Should the Boss Listen to You? The Seven Disciplines of the Trusted Strategic Advisor," by James E. Lukaszewksi. The book outlines ways in which employees can earn the trust of their bosses and become important strategic advisors to them. Lukaszewksi presents seven guidelines to achieve this, including exhibiting trustworthiness and consistency. The author notes that the strategies he advocates are not limited to a specific industry but can be applied to any number of professions. The book illustrates the contention that as executives and other leaders rely heavily on information from others, advisors play an integral role in the success of an organization.
