Thus, "The Power of Minds at Work" is offered as an intellectual "whack on the head" to help executives and managers face organizational dysfunction, understand it, and come to terms with its causes. But, more importantly, it provides a blueprint for a smarter enterprise. Drawing on a wealth of stories, examples, and experiences garnered from his 25 years as a consultant to businesses worldwide, Albrecht offers a framework for mobilizing all the brainpower of the organization and focusing that brainpower on achieving the organization&x2019; s mission. Albrecht views the dysfunctional patterns (i.e., the collective stupidity) of a normal organization as causing a state of increased entropy-the measure of a system&x2019; s disorder, as well as the amount of the system& According to Albrecht&x2019; s observations, organizations, like people, have at least seven "intelligences": strategic vision, shared fate, appetite for change, heart, alignment and congruence, knowledge deployment, and performance pressure.
