ABSTRACT
The article provides information on pirates. The Greek islands were home to some of the earliest known pirates in 500 B.C. In 67 B.C., the Roman leader Pompey sent a huge fleet to wipe out the pirates of the Mediterranean Sea. Julius Caesar was captured by pirates who he later killed. Viking ships crossed the North Sea to raid settlements on the British coast. INSET: PICTURE PUZZLE.
