ABSTRACT
Racing around the Sun are tiny pieces of rock called meteoroids. When these enter the Earth's atmosphere, they are called meteors, or shooting stars. If they reach the ground, they are known as meteorites. Bigger lumps of rock flying through space are called asteroids. Many people believe that dinosaurs died out soon after a giant asteroid hit the Earth.
