ABSTRACT
Chapter 5 of the book "Julie Christie: The Biography" is presented. It describes Christie's big break in the movie "Darling," the story-line of which have long been conceptualized with Christie in mind for the lead role. It tells of a woman who was the epitome of the callous selfish modern girl. It goes through all the frustrations of a radical film such as funding, looking for the lead male and acceptance of Christie as lead female star before the film was released in 1965. The film which launched Christie as the Face of 1965 won international acclaim.
