ABSTRACT
Information on the laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux from a chapter of the book "Atlas of Gastrointestinal Surgery," Volume One, Second Edition, is presented. It discusses the tests that must be conducted on patients before considering surgical intervention for the reflux. It relates some of the components of the regimen for managing gastroesophageal reflux without surgical intervention. The steps involved in the operative surgical procedure are outlined.
