ABSTRACT
A section from the book "Atlas of Gastrointestinal Surgery" Volume One, Second Edition is presented. It describes and illustrates how resection of a benign bile duct stricture with reconstruction utilizing a hepaticojejunostomy is performed. It notes some clinical situations wherein benign bile duct strictures take place like scarring and fibrosis of the head of the pancreas from chronic pancreatitis, Mirizzi's syndrome with impaction of a cystic duct stone obstructing the common hepatic duct. Details of how the procedure is performed are discussed.
