ABSTRACT
Chapter 6 of the book "Reading Contemporary African American Drama: Fragments of History, Fragments of Self" is presented. The entry examines three plays by Pearl Cleage, namely, "Flyin' West," "Blues for an Alabama Sky" and "Bourbon at the Border." It also explores how movement is crucial to the formation of identity, and how the plays' characters attempt to find wholeness and reason for moving toward the future despite the darker circumstances they experience.
