ABSTRACT
This article presents Chapter 5 of this monograph issue which is entitled "Professional Dialogue as Professional Development," by Dena Deglau, Phillip Ward, Mary O'Sullivan and Kim Bush. This paper examines the findings of an initiative designed to stimulate reflection and discussion among teachers. Participants were physical education teachers from the Columbus, Ohio school district who met for PEP-Talks designed to enhance the existing community of practice developed from ongoing districtwide professional development provided by Physical Education for Progress (PEP) grants. There is increasing evidence that when teachers collaborate in such forums they are more willing to take risks, reflect on failures and share their successes. The PEP-Talk format provided an opportunity to do so.
