Biography
ABSTRACT
A biography of American sculptor Betti Richard is presented. She was born in 1916, studied at the Horace Mann School and entered the Art Students League in 1935. Mahonri Young and Paul Manship were two of the instructors who had the greatest influence on the development of Richard's talent in sculpture. Among the awards Richard won for her sculpture are the 1947 Barnett Prize at the National Academy, the 1956 Gold Medal of Honor for Sculpture at Allied Artists of America, and the 1966 Gold Medal for Sculpture at the Hudson Valley Art Association.
