ABSTRACT
A biography of Chinese-American cellist Yo-Yo Ma is presented. He was born in 1955 in Paris, France to a violinist father and a singer mother. His father taught him how to play the violin and the cello. The cellist gave his first public recital at the University of Paris when he was five years old. His family moved to New York when his father was hired to teach at a school for musically gifted children.
