ABSTRACT
A biography of Valdas Adamkus, the president of Lithuania is presented. Born in Lithuania, Adamkus spent a large portion of his life in the United States before holding the presidency of Lithuania. Throughout his life Adamkus has been an advocate for the environment; he has served on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and traveled internationally sharing his expertise. Adamkus returned to Lithuania after the country became independent and has sought to modernize the country.
