ABSTRACT
A biography of the artist George Swinton is presented. He was born in Vienna and joined the Canadian Army. It mentions that Swinton was the author of seminal studies on Inuit art. He was asked to give the Marjorie Ward Lecture at the University of Manitoba. Swinton's view on the relationship of art and religion is also discussed.
