ABSTRACT
A biography of English poet Thomas Hardy is presented. He was born in Dorsetshire, England, in 1840. He trained and worked as an architect for ten years before he began his writing career as a novelist. His first book "Desperate Remedies" was successful enough that he decided to leave the field of architecture for writing. Then he left fiction writing for poetry, and published eight collections, including "Wessex Poems" and "Satires of Circumstance." Thomas Hardy died in 1928.
