Bond Buyer Indexes Mixed Coming Off Last Week's Record Lows

'The Bond Buyer' yield indexes were mixed in the week of May 30, 2003, deviating from record lows from the week before. Treasuries suffered early in the week, with prices falling on May 27 as stocks surged and municipal bond yields rose one to four basis points. Treasuries were mixed, stocks were up slightly, and municipal bond yields rose between three and five basis points. The Conference Board reported that the May consumer confidence index increased by nearly three points to 83.8, and in April 2003, new home sales rose 1.7 percent and existing home sales rose 5.6 percent.
