ABSTRACT
I HAD an accident on my bike two weeks ago and bashed my shin. I didn't break anything, but I did get a big, thick bruise which, over the past few weeks, has turned all the colours of the rainbow. The problem is, while most of the colour has gone, there is still a thickened area of swelling over the shin which is painful when I press it or try to put boots on, although walking is fine. Should I have had an X-ray after all?

My daughter rose from a fitful night's sleep with a sore throat, headache and a temperature. I presumed she would stay off work but she had to go in. Why? Because she doesn't get paid if she is sick. It's wrong that there is so much pressure on people to turn up even when they are obviously ill.
