China's prime minister once dubbed Nasdaq the crown jewel of the U.S. economy. But despite the glowing neon Times Square market site that shouts Nasdaq's presence to the world, the once-brilliant marketplace has definitely lost its sparkle. With all these troubles, it's small wonder the Nasdaq leadership has been in turmoil ever since the crash of 2000. Industry critics believe bold leadership and a major overhaul will be required to ensure that Nasdaq doesn't fade into obscurity like the American Stock Exchange.
