The Design and Optimization of Urban Simulation Engine with Multi-GPU

An urban 3D simulation engine with multi-GPU and multi-channel is designed and implemented to enhance the authenticity of urban 3D simulation scenes and to provide users with more feelings of scene immersion. The core procedures of engine is discussed and the optimization strategies including multi-GPU-CPU thread model, terrain loading and rendering strategies based on Tessellation, as well as screen subdivision and deferred rendering based parallel rendering strategies are elaborated. The performance of the engine is tested and analyzed with examples.
