ABSTRACT
The global climate is undergoing a significant change which characterizes global warming. This paper employs panel VAR model to analyze the relationship between carbon emissions, energy consumption and economic growth over the period 1990-2008. Empirical results reveal that there exist long term cointegration between carbon emissions, energy consumption and regional economy growth. In developed regions, GDP is main factor of the movement of energy consumption, while energy consumption itself is main factor in developing regions. GDP shock turns out to be positive with energy consumption and CO2 emission response, which being absorbed after one to two years in developing regions and developed regions. Finally this paper gives some suggestions that policy-makers can take different implementation of energy reduction and promote low carbon economic development to different regions.
