ABSTRACT
The World Health Organization (WHO), after intense lobbying by Canadian officials, lifted an advisory urging travelers to avoid nonessential trips to Toronto, hard-hit by the SARS epidemic.The action solved some imaqe and perhaps some economic problems for Canada, but raised questions about the organization's integrity.Harlan Waksal, brother of disgraced founder Samuel Waksal, who awaits sentencing after pleading guilty to fraud, resigned as chief executive officer. The federal probe of HealthSouth expanded, as feds targeted the company's operating units and its outside auditor, KPMG IIP.
