The article discusses efforts by the German library society Deutscher Bibliotheksverband to establish the legal equality of electronic books and printed books. The European library campaign "The Right to E-Read" is examined, an April 22, 2014 press conference on copyright problems associated with e-books in libraries is examined, and the application of book-based copyright law to the lending of e-books is encouraged.
