ABSTRACT
The Lippische Landesbibliothek (Lippe State Library, founded in 1614) is funded by the Landesverband Lippe (local government association for the district of Lippe). Because of the financial turmoil the Landesverband finds itself presently in, the Landesbibliothek is on the lookout for strategic partnerships. As a first step the theological library of the Lippische Landeskirche (Lippe State Church) was incorporated into the Landesbibliothek in 2013. This measure answered the call for assistance of the Landeskirche who otherwise would have had to close down its library. The second step is the cooperation with the libraries of the Hochschule für Musik Detmold (Music School Detmold), planned for 2015. Not only will catalogue and user data be shared, but the so far separate library buildings will then also be connected. As a bonus of this redevelopment the thereby newly won vicinity of the State Archive of North Rhine-Westphalia will result in further prospects for cooperation.
