Axios Advisors is crafting plans to launch a high-yield municipal bond hedge fund as early as June, according to Triet Nguyen, president and founder of the independent fixed-income research firm.The firm was founded in January 2002 by Nguyen, a former portfolio manager for John Hancock Investments and Putnam Investments in Boston who specialized in high-yield corporate and municipal bonds.The three join a growing cadre of top muni bond traders who have left major broker-dealers, both in recent months and over the past few years, to start investment-grade muni hedge funds.The three join a growing cadre of top muni bond traders who have left major broker-dealers to start investment-grade muni hedge funds.
