A broadly tunable yellow-green laser using F+3 centers and some unknown centers in a LiF crystal at room temperature is reported. The laser output extended from 500 to 640 nm and peaked at 535 and 610 nm.

A novel automatic F[sub 2] detecting method has been developed which uses the chemiluminescence emitted following a gas phase reaction between F[sub 2] and SiH[sub 4]. Abstract. For laser collimation of neutral F atoms, a resonance transition cycle between the metastable and the upper excited states (3s [sup 4] p[sub 5/2] arrow left and right 3p [sup 4] D[sup 0] [sub 7/2]) can be used as a two-level closed system. We have determined the lifetime of the...

.We describe the spectral dynamics of a line-narrowed F[sub 2] laser, based on numerical simulation by a newly developed simulation code. A CO2 quadrature interferometer is used to measure the temporal evolution of the electron density in XeF and KrF electron-beam-pumped laser mixtures (nonlasing). Measurements are obtained using a 300-kV electron beam which delivers >=10 A/cm2 at the foil for pulse durations ≤650 ns (FWHM)....
