ABSTRACT
We have investigated the room-temperature magnetic properties of a series of neodymium-cobalt-boron alloys rapidly solidified by melt spinning. Depending on the starting composition, intrinsic coercivities and energy products as large as 10.2 kOe and 5.2 MGOe, respectively, have been achieved in ribbons whose principal constituent is crystalline Nd2Co14B. Our work represents the first successful effort to magnetically harden that compound.
