Numerical simulations are used to study how fiber supercontinuum generation seeded by picosecond pulses can be actively controlled through the use of input pulse modulation. By carrying out multiple simulations in the presence of noise, we show how tailored supercontinuum spectra with increased...

Dual-wavelength optical picosecond pulses are generated simultaneously by using a multiple-optical-path self-seeding scheme. The external cavity of the Fabry–Perot (F–P) laser diode consists of three fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) and a variable optical delay line. The wavelengths of...

Graphene exhibits wavelength-independent, saturable optical absorption with fast response time, and large modulation depth. Ghost imaging allows the imaging of an object without directly seeing this object. Originally demonstrated in the spatial domain, it was recently shown that ghost imaging can be transposed into the time domain to detect ultrafast signals, even in the presence of distortion. We propose and...

In view of the fact that the bandwidth required in optical fiber communication systems will exceed 100 Gb s-1, ultrafast optical switching and modulation devices with high efficiency must be developed. Given that intersubband transitions (ISBT) in quantum wells (QWs) are one of the important...
