Abstract. This paper presents an experimental technique for measurement of the contrast ratio of ultrashort UV pulses. As a multiple-shot device based on the scheme of difference frequency generation this is, to our knowledge, the only cross correlator in the UV so far, which offers a dynamic...

Ablation of submicron surface structures on LiNbO[sub 3] by short ultraviolet laser pulses (0.5 ps, 248 nm) is presented. Gratings with a period of 360 nm and a modulation depth of 80 nm are fabricated on the sample surface by single-laser-shot exposure. The structures are projection imaged by a...

We have theoretically studied and optimized the field enhancement and temporal response of single and coupled bimetal Ag/Au core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) with a diameter of 160 nm and compared the results to pure Ag and Au NPs. Very high-field enhancements with an amplitude reaching 100 (with...

We demonstrate experimentally the extreme ultraviolet supercontinuum in the plateau of high-order harmonic emission from the argon gas cell driven by a 6.5 fs, 800 nm phase-stabilized laser pulse. The result is interpreted as a selection of single quantum path of the returning electrons due to...
