ABSTRACT
The Hawaii Housing and Community Development Corp.'s (HHCDC) public housing division may finally be selecting a new executive director. However, the single-family and multifamily housing provider, which is under review by state and federal investigators, still has to convince at least one rating agency that it is turning things around. Moody's Investors Service Inc. in the last week of April 2003, extended for another 90 days its placement of the HHCDC on watch list for possible decline. “One of the reasons we are waiting is that we want to have a real in-depth discussion with the new executive director about how that person is going to lead the corporation, what kind of problems does he see and possible solutions in all aspects of business, including public housing,” said Wendy Berry, a senior vice president at Moody's.
