ABSTRACT
The article reports that the problem of the relationship between ethics and law is a long-standing one in the realm of philosophy. It is doubtlessly one of the key questions for practical philosophy, which considers at least ethics, law, politics and religion. Throughout history at least four answers have been given to this question: identification, separation, complementation and interweavement. The article attempts to analyze which of these are suitable for understanding what a legal system is and what morality is in advanced societies.
