ABSTRACT
A study released by the Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council found that most of the state's 39 municipalities are on good fiscal footing, while one beleaguered city may be making a little progress. Based on data from fiscal 2001, the study, called &ldquo.Municipal Health Check For Rhode Island's Cities and Towns 2003, ” saw “positive signs of financial stability” such as relatively low outstanding long-term debt and decent fund balances in the majority of towns across the Ocean State, according to Peter Marino, director of policy for RIPEC.
