ABSTRACT
The article features a study that investigates the effects of transformational leadership and social exchange relations on teams and manager-subordinate relations in companies in the U.S. Researchers conducted five surveys on 23 companies where they analyzed the reports from members and leaders about interpersonal and transformational leadership, the importance of extra-role and in-role performance on members and the quality of leader-member exchange (LMX) relations. They discovered that effectual interpersonal and collective relations between leaders and members are needed in boosting the performance of teams. Moreover, it cites that leaders must utilize the strengths of each member and must align them to achieve coordinated team performance.
