Indexes Down on SARS Fears, Lack of Positive Data

Yield indexes of the publication 'Bond Buyer' were at low prices during the last week of April 2003, with three reaching record lows. On April 28, municipal bonds were unchanged and Treasury prices lost value. Personal income and consumption expenditures rose 0.4 percent in March, 2003. On April 29, cash bonds weakened and Treasury prices were down slightly as equities rose. Municipal bond yields fell two or three basis points, Treasury prices increased, and stocks lost value. Cash bonds fell two or three basis points as underwriters repriced 252 million dollars New York State general obligation bonds on May 1, 2003.
