ABSTRACT
Each issue of Marketing Management will reprise an article appropriate to our cover story from a past issue of the Journal of Marketing. In this issue, we present an edited version of an article authored by Peter Drucker from the January 1958 issue. Professor Drucker had this to say on the re-publication of this article: "Although specific references date this presentation, it remains very appropriate today, especially in light of current events in the global marketplace, particularly Eastern Europe."
