ABSTRACT
Chozas, chozos, chozuelos, cabañas, barracas, tapichozas, albergues, casillas, casas pajizas, chamizos, cobertizos, rosqueras, torrucas, casal, hormazos, bombos, cubillos, etc. are terms designating rural habitat forms which do not exist any more in our country today, and which have also been known as minimum housing, plant houses, auxiliary buildings, vernacular or home architecture, basic dwelling, etc. These are buildings that are considered as the last step in the scale of the settlement, but on the other hand, they have enormous geographical, historical and ethnological value. These places give us plenty of information about the way of living of the people who preceded us. The difficulties found in the study of these houses have been due to the failure in the geographical research, therefore, the main objective of this paper is to uncover the most appropriate sources as well as the most effective methodology for the study of this popular rural architecture.
