ABSTRACT
This article describes a way to provide students with real-world investments experience through a student investment club. Business executives, students, and even some professors frequently complain that business education is too theoretical and that there is a need for more real-world experiences in the education efforts. Investment games are clearly a means of focusing student interest on the stock market, and the sense of competition often motivates students to dig deeper into investment concepts. However, any investment game that lasts only a few months and measures success as the highest level of return attained faces severe weaknesses. With the general increase in the popularity of investment clubs over the past few years, there is quite a bit of general information that is available to any group interested in starting an investment club. People in local investment clubs are generally eager to share their experiences with others and can often provide suggestions of what to do, or not do, when getting started.
