ABSTRACT
American Airlines Inc.'s officials are working to resolve a split between the management and the company's three major labor unionsin view of the threatened legal challenges of recently approved labor contracts that could send the company into bankruptcy. If labor contracts were not approved by April 16, they would have no choice but to declare bankruptcy. American had partially funded a 25 million dollar pension trust for 45 senior executives that would be safe from creditors in the event that the airline eventually declared bankruptcy.
