Over $1 Billion in New Issuance Led by LIPA's $520 Million Sale

More than 1 billion dollar of newly issued bonds were introduced in the bond market on April 23, 2003 led by a 520 million dollar Long Island Power Authority loan. Meanwhile, tax-exempt bonds are expected to continue to trade within narrow ranges this week. UBS PaineWebber Inc. priced 520 million dollar in Long Island Power Authority electric system revenue bonds. Meanwhile, Citigroup Inc. won 83 million dollar of Prince William County, Virginia general obligation public improvement and refunding bonds with a low interest cost of 3.157 percent, out of 10 bids. In the negotiated sector, Lehman Brothers Inc. priced and repriced 103 million dollar in Puerto Rico Housing Finance Authority home mortgage revenue bonds subject to alternative minimum tax.
