Municipal bond yields rose two or three basis points on April 21, 2003 in light trading, while the Kansas City, Mo.-based Municipal Assistance Corp. sold $49 million of leasehold refunding and improvement revenue bonds in the U.S. new-issue market. Greg Mount, deputy chief economist at Bank One, said the LEI painted a picture of economic conditions both prior to and during the conflict in Iraq, but gave little indication about the health of the economy going forward. In the municipal arena, yields rose two or three basis points, reflecting softness in the Treasury market in light trading.
