Ingredients Nutrition before and after Pelleting Elephant Grass (Pennisetum Purpurium) for Animal Feed Ruminant

This article reports our experimentation about pelleting elephant grass (Pennisetum purpurium) for ruminants feed to obtain the effectiveness and high performance. Advantages the objective of pelleting made consumption and feed efficiency, become levels of metabolism energy feed, kill pathogens, extend the storage time, ensuring the balance of feed nutrients and vitamins to prevent oxidation, reducing storage, reducing the cost of transportation, ease of handling and presentation of feed, high density will increase feed intake and reduced feed runoff, prevent "de-mixing" the decomposition re-composition of the pellets that feed consumption in accordance with the standard requirements. The treatment used solar drying and oven, steam and blanching method with a duration time 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes at an early stage and treatment conditioning process moisture content of 5%, 10%, and 20% of the weight of the material. The result of the research is the ingredients nutrition between fresh with pellet elephant grass significantly no different. Ingredient nutrition of fresh grass are crude fiber 32.86%, crude protein 9.8%, the energy metabolism 4,541 kcal/kg, 2.2% crude fat, 87.3% moisture, 2.1% ether extract, 15.52% ash, 1.5% calcium and 0.4% phosphor. Pelleting with treatment solar drying method with steam at 100° C, duration time of 5 minutes to make the ingredient nutrition of pellet is a crude fiber 36.5%, crude protein 10.5%, the energy metabolism 4,826 kcal/kg, 1.8% crude fat, 85.8% moisture, 2.8% ether extract. 12.5% ash, 1.5% calcium and 0.4% phosphor.
