ABSTRACT
The article exlores the three levels of chemical education thinking proposed by A. H. Johnstone. Topics covered include the importance of the visualization at the molecular level for a deep understanding of chemistry, the Vischem Project which produced molecular animations, depicting the structures of substances and chemical and physical changes and how animations and simulations can effectively communicate many key features about molecular level.

Understanding what is distinctive about the role of models in science requires characterizing broad patterns in how these models evolve in the face of experimental results. That is, we must examine not just model statics-how the model relates to theory, or represents the world, at some point in...

An artificial muscle composite material consisting of carbide derived carbon (CDC) and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (EMI-BF) ionic liquid was modeled using molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, in order to determine the molecular structural rearrangements causing actuation.
