The article focuses on the engagement of planners in civic technology (tech). It mentions the need for planners to assume a leadership role in the civic tech movement, several planners who used technology and their knowledge in launching their own start-ups including Sean Connolly, Karin Brandt and Dominick Ard'is, and some open-source technology tools of interest to planners such as the Plan in a Box online tool and WALKScope online data collection tool.
