ABSTRACT
The construct of hope has been studied across multiple disciplines and with varying populations. Findings consistently show that high hope individuals are more effective in reaching their goals. This paper will look at the developmental process of Snyder's hope theory, its basic tenets and the impact of barriers or emotions on the process. We will also examine the role hope can play in the field of rehabilitation counseling including the tools necessary to build and facilitate hope in individuals with disabilities.
