ABSTRACT
The article analyzes the neoclassical innovations in artist Pablo Picasso's critically formative Pink Period which stem from once novel and fashionably assimilated imagery of Late Archaic and Severe style Greek art. Topics include Picasso's exploitation of art historical sources, blind drawings by Picasso's immediate forerunners, and his use of classical forms in drawings and paintings.
