Relates the life experience of the author towards her professional success as a judge. Identification of childhood experiences endemic with the Hispanic heritage; Failure of the Latin heritage to brand the author as a Latina; Struggle to maintain and promote cultural and ethnic identities in American society; Agreement with the belief of the judges' role to transcend personal sympathies to achieve fairness and integrity.
