In an attempt to become key players in the e-learning industry, many content providers have focused too much on quantity, rather than quality. Given that the requirement of a typical e-learning application for sophisticated interaction is very complex, quality control in e-learning is a difficult task. The effects of inadequately tested e-learning courses canbe devastating. According to a landmark study by IBM and IT company Rockwell, a bug found post-release costs, on average, 100 times more to fix than a bug found early in development. E-learning requires various quality-control measures. One of them is the need the need for functional testing, to ensure that the product conforms to requirements, typicallyexpressed in a technical specification or design document. INSETS: Case study;Quality precesses.
