Denzel Washington received acting honors for New Line's“ John Q” and supporting actor award for Fox Searchlight's“ Antwone Fisher” at the 34th annual NAACP Image Awards in March 2003. The motion picture actress award went to Angela Bassett for Sony Picture Classics'“ Sunshine State,” while the supporting actress award went to Halle Berry for MGM's“ Die Another Day.”Actor Bernie Mac won the award for an actor in a comedy series, and his show, Fox's“ The Bernie Mac Show,” received the comedy series trophy. Showtime's“ Soul Food” won drama series award while the show's Vanessa Williams won the award for outstanding actress.
