ABSTRACT
WHAT is David Cameron to do about his school contemporary Hugh Powell, who allowed photographers to get a snapshot of the Government's Ukraine briefing policy (do nothing) as he entered Downing Street? Some say the chap deserves to be sacked as deputy national security adviser. Instead, I hear the Old Etonian is in line for a big diplomatic job overseas. Hugh's father, Lord Powell, was Mrs T's foreign policy adviser and his uncle, Jonathan Powell, was Tony Blair's Chief-of-Staff. There is a feeling that were he not from such a well-connected family, he would be lucky to earn a posting to Bournemouth.
