ABSTRACT
The article discusses the results of a study of opioid prescribing by multiple healthcare providers to U.S. Medicare beneficiaries. Topics discussed include 77.2 percent of beneficiaries with four or more opioid providers received concurrent opioid prescriptions from multiple providers, increased in opioid related admissions with multiple provider prescribing and adjusted percent of beneficiaries admitted with an opioid related condition.
