ABSTRACT
The article presents best practices which permits the prevention of variable frequency drive (VFD)-induced electrical bearing damage. It mentions that the most cost-effective and reliable way to protect replacement bearings is to set up a modern shaft grounding ring if inspection of the old bearing shows electrical damage. It states that all electrical paths need to be conductive to maximize the effectiveness of the grounding ring.
